The International Christian Embassy Jerusalem was established in Israel in 1980, in response to the decision by some 13 nations to remove their national Embassies from Jerusalem when the Israeli Parliament passed a resolution declaring Jerusalem as the eternal and undivided capital of the State of Israel.
Having regard for the fact that Australia was the first nation to vote in the United Nations in November 1947, in favour of the establishment of a homeland for the Jewish people in Israel, it was just a short time after the ICEJ opened its doors in Jerusalem, that a branch was established in Australia. It has operated successfully since then.
The Australian office is currently located in Nambour, in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in South-East Queensland, some 75 km north of Brisbane.
The ICEJ in Australia, is a registered charity, incorporated in the State of Queensland and managed by a governing Board, whose current members are: Bruce Garbutt (Chairman), Merrilyn Garbutt, John O’Hara, Jesma O’Hara (Secretary/Treasurer), Ps Noel Mann, Ps Diana Mann, and Daniel Abel (Grafted Representative).
Regional Representatives of ICEJ are located throughout the country. They organise prayer groups and events for their particular regions to encourage prayer for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people.
All positions within the Australian Branch of ICEJ, including Board Members, are voluntary with the Office being open 3 days a week.
